The Twisted Truth (A Short Story)

Some crimes can never be hidden...
Some decisions might be too hard to take, but sometimes, there is no other way.
Sometimes, what we perceive is not the truth.
Sometimes, the truth is too twisted to be seen.

She sat in the Starbucks cafe, sipping her coffee and staring out of the window. The blood stained knife lay next to her handbag, covered with her blue silk scarf...

She felt trapped. Lonely and desolate. The blood on the knife had dried up but her heart still bled. Thankfully, none of the people in the cafe could see her blood stained knife. She wondered if they would understand her and more importantly, empathise with her. Would anyone ever understand her? She knew that the day could not get any worse.

How exactly had she ended up like this? Her thoughts kept running in various directions. Would the day turn out to be any different had she not taken that single decision? She wished for the day to go back in reverse and maybe then, things would have turned out differently.

That moment seemed suspended in time.

It seemed unfair, almost cruel, to her. The biggest irony of life was that the most important day of her life turned out to be indeed the one day that she would never forget.

Looking at her blue silk scarf, she went back to the time where it all began...

Flashback.

Di, you still aren’t ready! I can’t believe you,” said a beautiful girl in her mid-twenties.

Just give me five more minutes. I am just coming out.” She replied in a muffled voice. She was busy trying to wear that gown. Ugh! Why did gowns have to be so fluffy and difficult to wear?

Enough with wasting time Di! It’s the biggest day of your life and you are taking way too long to get ready.” Erika almost shouted with frustration writ large in her voice.

This time, Erika seemed almost persistent for her elder sister to come out and get on with the festivities. Samantha felt the nerves get the better of her and she felt the onset of a headache. Sometimes, her sister could be so tiresome.

Okay Okay! I am coming out. Just, don’t be shocked... okay?” she muttered before she stepped out of the washroom.

And there she stood, decked up in a beautiful white wedding gown. The gown was a designer wear from a top label that fitted her like a glove. All her curves felt pronounced and on display. Her hour-glass figure that usually felt disguised under the drags that she wore for clothes, looked absolutely devastating and ravishing. She felt like she had stepped out of Vogue magazine. She twirled around in glee and posed for her sister, Erika.

Erika looked absolutely struck by her sister’s beauty. Deep down, Erika always knew that her sister was a beauty, but today, of all the days, her sister looked exquisite. Her hair was dark brown with streaks of blonde colour, tied up neatly in a bun. Her face was like glowing porcelain, with large dazzling chocolate brown eyes framed by curled long lashes and full, kissable cherry lips. She had a straight nose which went well with her high cheekbones. Exceptional was one word that came to her mind as she looked at her sister, Samantha’s demeanour.

 Di, you look absolutely ravishing. My brother-in-law won’t be able to take his eyes or hands off you.” Erika giggled and teased.

Stop teasing me. But, is everything going right? I am praying that nothing goes wrong.” She was terrified that something would go wrong.

Di, don’t worry. Nothing is going wrong. Anyway, Aarav jiju’s mother sent this blue silk scarf for you along with this blue pendent as something new, something blue and something borrowed. Return the scarf to her later.” Erika told her.

Thank you. And one more thing, please go and check if Aarav is ready for the altar or not. And yes, make sure that he does take his medicine for anxiety. I don’t want him to have a heart-attack.” She told her little sister as she made sure that everything was in place.

She silently prayed for everything to go down as she had planned...

Flashback Ends.

Why had the happiest day of her life turned out to be the saddest day of her life? The happy girl seemed almost long gone now. Even if she tried, she couldn’t force a smile on her face. Why had ‘something blue, something borrowed’ turned out to be such a disaster? She actually had loved the blue scarf in that moment. But right now, the evidence of a crime was concealed with it.

She wondered if Aarav’s mother would accept the scarf back knowing it concealed the evidence for the murder of her motherhood...

Flashback.

Something seemed wrong. Despite knowing that she wasn’t supposed to meet her groom before the nuptials, she made her way towards his room. She had to see her man before the wedding. She just had to make sure that he was okay. She didn’t feel right. Not at all right.

When she opened the door of his room with a smile expecting to see her handsome groom, what she saw, made her gasp into disbelief. The scene before her eyes was too unreal for words. Her love of the life was lying in a pool of blood and her sister was covered in his blood.

Without a word, she closed the door and with tears streaming down her face, she sat down near her fiancée’s dead body. Erika was shivering in fear, pain and agony while she felt too numb to speak anything. Her Aarav was dead. The love of her life was gone. Forever.

With short breaths and a pain-stricken voice, she asked, “Why?”

Erika broke into sobs and said, “I am so sorry Di. I didn’t mean to kill him. I swear I didn’t. It just happened by accident.”

Controlling her own emotions, she held her sister by her shoulders and asked, “Why did you have to kill him? What did he ever do to you? What did I ever do to you? How could you do this to me?

Erika broke down sobbing and replied, “Di, I didn’t mean to kill him. It happened by accident. I was just trying to...”

Erika stopped in the middle of her sentence and looking at her face, she immediately asked, “What were you trying to do? Tell me the truth. Now! I deserve to know why my own sister killed my fiancée on my wedding day.”

Erika tearfully replied, “Di, I am so sorry. I just came to give him his medicine. I made sure that he drank it, like you said. After that, I was about to leave the room when Jiju... Aarav grabbed me by my shoulders and told me that he loves me. I told him that he is kidding and the joke is pathetic but his advances grew. I told him to let me go but he told me that he had got my message claiming that I crave for him to make me his. I knew he was lying because my phone is stolen. He was trying to take advantage of me Di. I tried shoving him off but he forced himself upon me. He bit me on my lips and tried to... molest me. He tore away pieces of my dress. My back was nailed against the wall, trying to fight for myself. To save myself, I reached for the knife. I had only intended to threaten him. But in the ensuing struggle, I ended up killing him. God! I am so sorry Di. I didn’t mean anything like this to happen.”

Erika stood up and showed the marks on her body. Her hands were bruised and her lips were bitten. Erika was telling the truth. As much as she didn’t want to believe the truth, it was all infront of her. Her fiancée had tried to molest her sister. The act was one of self defence. She felt torn between her love for her sister and the love for her fiancée.

She was a little too late for choices... Aarav was already dead.

She hugged her sister and said, “Don’t be sorry. I am sorry that I wasn’t there to save you. I am sorry that I could not recognise the guy I was planning to marry. But now, we have to do something. We cannot let anyone see you like this.”

With a sob, Erika said, “How can you ever forgive me? And we don’t have to do anything. I would turn myself in and go to jail.”

She immediately said, “Don’t be stupid. I am not letting you go to jail. Yes, I loved him and I cannot forgive you right now, but you are my sister. We are together in this.”

Erika cried, “Di, I love you so much. I am so sorry.”

Planning quickly, she erased all the blood marks from the floor. She asked Erika to change her dress to avoid doubts. Wiping off the blood from the floor killed her. Digging out the dagger from his body, she wrapped it in the blue silk scarf and kept it in her handbag. She asked Erika to give him poison so that if his body is ever found, the police would think that the poison killed him instead of the knife. She even threw away the medicine to remove all traces of Erika’s existence from the room. She prayed she could remove the existence of this day from her life. With a bleeding heart, she carried out all tasks to save her sister.

After everything was done, Samantha said, “Don’t worry. Everything would be alright. No matter what, I am always there for you. I love you.”

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
With precision and finesse, together, they hid the body and told everyone that the groom had ditched Samantha at the altar. Everyone had gone into panic mode and sympathised with her. Especially Aarav’s mother, who claimed to disown her own son for ditching his bride. Everyone felt really sad for her and with an excuse of needing to be left alone; Samantha took the body of Aarav in her car and threw him in a large water body.
There.
Now he would never be found and her sister would never be evicted.
Flashback Ends.
She watched people going by and realised how sudden life can turn around. She had gone from happy to heart-broken in a single day. Just hours ago, she was waiting for the biggest day in her life. Well, it did turn out to be the biggest day of her life but not the way she wanted.
Looking at the knife, she wondered why she hadn’t thrown that away too. But in the hindsight, she knew she could never throw away the knife. It had cut out her heart along with Aarav’s. Like the bleeding knife, her heart bled with pain. What would she not give to forget the traumatic incident and end the ceaseless pain in her chest!
She wished she could share her story with someone. But would anyone understand her? Would they get why she did what she did? Would they sympathise with her? But she knew. They wouldn’t. So, this was her secret to keep. After all, everyone had some skeletons in their closet.
Some decisions might be too hard to take, but sometimes, there is no other way
Sometimes, we have to save our family members before we could save ourselves. She would save her sister at any cost even if it included hiding things from her.
There was no way that she would tell her sister that even before Erika had killed Aarav, Samantha had already poisoned his medicine. Samantha was no fool. She had known about her fiancée’s obsession with her sister all along. She had poisoned it after he messaged her that he was having second thoughts about their wedding. He had been planning to ditch her on their wedding day! Her, the one person who always stood by his side and loved him endlessly! So, she had made sure that his own life ditched him.
And there was no proof connecting her to her crime anymore. She had planned it perfectly. His phone was already destroyed which contained his messages to Erika in which he had claimed to love her and she had posed as Erika and encouraged him to try and win her love by some physical proximity. Even if the body was found, the poison found in his body would be easily explained by Erika as an attempt to hide her crime.
She should be happy. Happy to get rid of a cheating scumbag! And yet it pained, because the twisted truth was that inspite of hating him for double-crossing her, she had loved him. She still did.
Life was bitter, and so was her coffee. Yet, she sipped it.
The End.
I Still Love You.. (Short Story)
I still love you...
Bella’s pov-
28th July, 2005
I felt like I was drowning. Where was I, by the way? I felt like I was in the dark pool of some liquid. I could hear some distant voices, calling out my name. I was trying to swim and reach the surface. I was trying harder and harder, but as soon as I reached a little closer to the surface, something pulled me back. And I went drowning. Where the hell was I? What had happened?
The only source of freedom and light came from a voice. The voice was beckoning me to wake up, urging me to open my eyes. The voice was stirring some unknown emotions in me and I was trying to stay awake. I think that my only strength to fight with this darkness came from the voice.
“Bella, please wake up. You have to. For me. For us. You have to wake up Bella, you have to.”
The voice sounded like crushed velvets. It was so melodious and beautiful, that I could get lost in it. But who was this person and why was he calling my name? What is he doing here? Do I know him? Why is he asking me to wake up? Am I sleeping? Why am I feeling that I know him closely? But who knows? All my memories are getting washed away by the water. I could feel myself almost forgetting everything.
“Bella, are you trying to torture me? If yes, then, you are succeeding. I can’t see you in this pain, anymore. And I am not letting you go. I love you.”
Who was this person? Why did he love me? Am I torturing him? Why can’t he see me in this pain? Can he see me drowning? If yes, then why isn’t he saving me? Why isn’t he sending people down there to throw some life jackets? If he loves me, then why isn’t he saving me? What the hell is happening?
“I know I was wrong. But I didn’t ever wish to see you in pain. I love you.”
What? What was that about? Why was he wrong? Before I could think of more questions and possibilities, I felt a teardrop fall on my hands. I certainly knew that it was of this voice. Why is he crying? Why can’t I see him? Why are his emotions and the pain in his voice, stirring thousands of emotions in me? Why do I want to wipe off his tears? I so wanted to reach out to him. I swam faster to hit the shore. Am I falling for this unknown yet known voice?
But then I heard another voice, an indication of someone else coming in the room. I stilled my actions to hear what the person has to say. I wish that the other person throws light on my savior’s voice. But then I heard a name, which froze me completely.
“Edward, I am afraid that you might have to leave her side. She must rest.”
Was I unknowingly giving my Edward pain? I feel so bad for him. I wanted to wake up, for him. For us. I didn’t mean to torture him. I don’t even know why I can’t open my eyes! I can’t see him crying. Oh Edward, I wish I could reply back to you.
“But Jake, I am not leaving her side until she wakes up from coma. I am the one responsible for this accident. If only I had not left her alone, then it wouldn’t have had happened. I am not leaving her side ever again.”
Why was he responsible? He never caused the accident! It was our own mutual decision that he would have to go to his native place to meet Alice and his new-born niece. He didn’t even want to leave my side! So how could he have caused this? My stupid boyfriend! And am I in a coma? Why? What had happened? Why was Jake here?
“But Edward, it’s already two months since her accident.  You are just staying here and looking after her. Your parents are worried for you. You haven’t had a sleep for three whole days! As your friend and her doctor, I must ask you to take care of yourself before you fall ill.”
What? He hadn’t gone home for three whole days? I was lying here for two months? I am so bad. I feel so helpless, I wish I could atleast speak. If I had been there, I would have asked him to take care of himself.
“How can I eat something when she can’t even open her eyes? How can I leave her when anytime she can open her eyes? I want her to see me first after opening her eyes.”
Oh my Edward! I do want to open my eyes, but for that I must know if my eyes are closed. I am just in a dark area. I am trying to swim, and I think my eyes are open.
“She is in coma Edward! It’s not like you would go to eat something and she would just open her eyes and then runaway. It takes time for the patient to improve. It can even take her years. And it has already been two months. You can just go and have some rest. If I see any kind of improvement, I would inform you.”
I can take time to improve? Why doesn’t he go away? He had to take care of himself! Only if I could speak, I would ask him to take care of him. I don’t want to wake up to find him unshaven and his bronze messy hairs falling apart. I don’t want to even find dark circles under his emerald eyes. I swear if he didn’t took care of himself, then I would kill him. I can feel his hands gripping mine and holding me tightly.
“Jake, it’s my decision. I am not leaving her. I love her and I am here to stay. It’s final. It doesn’t matter how much time she takes to recover. I am here for her, waiting.”
I didn’t know that I could feel more for him. I already loved him, and I felt like falling for him all over again. His confidence in me gave me a new reason to fight. And a new reason to swim back.
28th July, 2007
Days were passing by and soon two years had passed. I couldn’t believe that the surface could be that far away. I could hear Edward’s voice reaching out for me, daily. Well, almost daily. The first six months had been very crucial in our lives. At one stage, I couldn’t decide whether to give up or fight back.
Edward kept coming back and whispered assurances in my ears. He wanted me to wake up. I tried, as much as I could. I tried swimming out and reaching the end of this dark tunnel. I was loosing hope, but the only thing that encouraged me, was my Edward’s voice. I could hear helplessness and pain in his voice.
How I wish I could reach out and wipe off his tears. How I wished that I could wake up for him. But I was helpless, I couldn’t do anything. I had realized that I might never wake up again and I might loose Edward forever. I had heard his father coming and suggesting him to move on. Who could blame Carlisle?
If I had been at his place, seeing his handsome son crying over a lifeless body, I would have been paranoid. I can’t really blame Carlisle, infact I myself wanted Edward to move on. I didn’t want to hear him crying for me…his comatose girlfriend. Agreed, he loved me and I loved him like anything, but I guess I didn’t want him to suffer due to me.
But the first six months, he had been stuck to me like a leech. I couldn’t remember the time when he was away. But after six months, the duration of his visits were shortened. Not that I blame him, but I could feel myself hoping against odds to see him again. And then slowly and slowly, I could feel him slipping away. His visits shortened from seven days in a week to once in a week.
But he made sure to visit me every once a week. He told me all about his life. He shared everything about him with me. He told me how new girls were asking him out and how he was having a hard time to turn them down. He urged to wake up soon. He told me about his first day at the hospital. Yes, my Edward was a doctor.
He shared everything with me, nothing hidden. He even told me how he tried to date some girls after much persuasion from Esme and Carlisle. How he couldn’t even like one because those weren’t me. I wish I could tell him to stop looking me in other girls, because they could never be me. I wanted him to forget me.
But it seemed impossible. Every time he went, he never forgot to kiss my forehead and whisper ‘I love you’ in my ears. I wish I could tell him how much I wanted to kiss him when he said that. I wish I could tell him how much I wanted to whisper ‘I love you too’ back at him. Sometimes I think it’s useless to even try and fight back the darkness, but when I think of Edward, I get my reasons.
I am trying…trying very hard to win this battle. I don’t want to loose my Edward.
28th July, 2010
I guess five years have taught me to accept things. I have accepted that I am never going to wake up ever again. And I have accepted the fact that slowly and slowly I am loosing my Edward. Although he visits me once in a month, especially on this date, but I know that I have lost him partially. He is moving on from me.
Although I myself wanted this to happen, but I can’t tolerate the ache it gave me. It pained when he told me about Giselle. Yup, he had started dating a girl named Giselle and the way he told me about her answered all my doubts. He was slowly and slowly falling for her. And it was hurting me badly.
He described each detail of her. It started from the way she smiles to the way her blue eyes seem like a deep ocean. Gosh! I can’t believe this. I am getting jealous of a girl I have never even seen. But I can’t even see her, because I know that I would never be opening my eyes. Although I still wish that I could.
Edward has been dating her for more than two years. The first time he told me about her, I came to know that he was infatuated with her. She was his co-worker and his teammate in various surgeries. And when he slowly started telling me about their dates and the kisses they shared, I almost lost my will to fight back.
I don’t know why, but Edward loved telling me about the things happening in his life. He didn’t understood the pain it gave me, he felt like sharing. I knew about his habit. He wasn’t deliberately giving me pain. It was his habit to share everything with me. We used to be best friends and he never hid anything from me. Even before realizing our love for each other, he used to share his feelings for someone else, with me. It was a natural thing for us to do. But this time, it stung badly.
28th July, 2011
One more year had passed away like the wind. There was still no change in my condition. And even the day had started like anything. But I had a very bad feeling about it. I somehow knew that today would be the last time, Edward would come to me. I had a feeling of a bad omen. I sincerely wished that all my fears were baseless.
I could hear Edward’s footsteps coming inside. Somehow it made me feel that this was the last time when I would hear his footsteps. He held my hand, and I could feel a sudden pull on them. Something was terribly wrong. There was surely something that was bothering him. I knew the small things he did when he was nervous.
“Bella, I hope you are listening to me. I know that it’s been long since I have last visited you. But today, I want to tell you something very important. I have decided to move on in my life. I am marrying Giselle.”
I don’t know why it matters to me anymore. I knew it was bound to happen. But it gave me heartbreak. I felt that I have lost him. My heart broke completely. I felt my world crashing down upon me. I felt tears threatening to fall on my cheeks. I could feel some of my tears seeking through my eyes. But before I could respond, I felt two hands wiping them off my cheeks. Who could it be except him? I could feel his soft hands, his tender touch. I could feel the polite and loving touch of him. He still bore the Jakee loving touch.
“Ssshhh…don’t cry Bella. I can’t see you in pain. Although it’s true that I am marrying Giselle and moving on in life, but I can never forget you. Deep in my heart, I still love you.”
He gave me a simple kiss on my forehead. I thought that he was moving away, when I felt his lips on mine. They still felt the Jakee to me except the fact that this time, I couldn’t respond to him. But I stored this last piece of our contact in my memory. I only had this moment to cherish in my whole life. When he pulled away, I felt my life support was detached from me. I wanted to hate him for leaving me alone and moving on in his life, but I couldn’t. I just couldn’t. I still loved him.
“I guess it’s a goodbye to you. I don’t know when you would recover, or when we would meet again. But always remember the fact that I have always loved you. You were my first love. Although I love Giselle now, but you would always have a piece of my heart. It’s just that I can’t wait for you, anymore. I have to move on Bella, I have to. I am so sorry, but I have fallen for Giselle. But despite loving Giselle, I still love you. And I would love you till eternity.”
And with this, he went away from my life. And I lost the only thing that kept me from drowning. I had lost the battle. I had lost my will to live. I had lost my life. I had lost him completely to someone else. I felt myself surrendering to the darkness completely.
 This was written 2 years back.
Sorry for the tragic ending, but sometimes life doesn’t gives us another chance. And it would have been impractical to show that Edward kept waiting for her. Come-on, it’s not reality. No one waits for someone for eternity. And I sincerely hope that you like this short story as this is the first time when I am publishing a story with a tragic ending. Always remember that moving on is the other name for life. Even though moving on can hurt you like hell, sometimes it’s the only option you have.
Lakme & The Makeover...
L.A.K.M.E. & The Makeover
“Alyssa, you must realize that by dreaming about him, you are going to achieve nothing. Just snap out of your dreams already!” Kyra, Alyssa’s best friend told her.
Alyssa snapped out of it and realized that it had been a mistake. Even since she had told Kyra about her crush on Aaron, Kyra made sure to point out her flaws. Was it her fault that she looked like a tom-boy? And even though she was tom-boyish, she was a girl at heart. And seemingly, Aaron had stolen hers. And what could be better? He had asked her out on a lunch date. And ofcourse, she had agreed.
“Ally, what’s wrong with you? Why are you so dull? I mean, you should be happy. He has asked you out!” Kyra said.
Alyssa shrugged and said, “Kyra, that’s the only problem! He has asked me out. What am I going to do? I don’t have a dress! And I badly need a make-over.”
Kyra smiled at her best friend and said, “Ally, you have to be mad to think about such petty issues! What am I here for? Why do you think that I have dragged your lazy-ass at my house?”
Alyssa threw the pillow at her. Kyra got up from her bed and took out her vanity case. She spilled the contents on the bed. Alyssa’s eyes widened at the diverse range of Lakme cosmetics, lying before her eyes. There was everything she could dream of.
Before Alyssa could say a word, Kyra said, “Come-on Ally girl, let’s get you all dolled up.”
Alyssa said, “But, Kyra, you know that I hate make up. It feels disgusting to cake up your face. And what’s the use of it anyway? It never stays long.”
Kyra said, “I am not here to argue. It’s not some cheap cosmetic, baby. It’s Lakme. And trust me, you won’t feel heavy. It’s make-up, which doesn’t look made-up. You will love it. Try it. And if you don’t feel good, I will remove it. Happy? Now, no arguments!”
The next thing she knew, she was squeezing some Lakme whitening capsules on her face and rubbing it. She felt good. She felt as if something was happening to her face. She felt the coolness of the granules of the capsule. After washing it off, she was shocked. How could her face look so serene? Surely, no product can work its charm in a single time!
Still shocked, she applied the Lakme sun expert skin lightening cream which even detoxifies tan. ‘Yeah right,’ and she rolled her eyes. No sun protection product actually protected from sun. When she would step out in the sun, her fairness will go away. She wondered the use of all this drama, when nothing is going to last.
When she re-entered the room, Kyra was busy arranging stuff. Kyra grinned when she saw Alyssa. She gave Ally a beautiful sundress, and made her to go and change into it. It was a beautiful yellow sundress with blue floral print. It was sleeveless, and reached to Alyssa’s knees, making her legs feel longer. Paired with a golden watch, peacock blue bracelet and golden killer heels, Alyssa looked beautiful.
Kyra grinned and said, “Just a little bit of make-up Ally, and Aaron would find it hard to keep his hands off you.”
Alyssa blushed. Kyra guided her to the desk. She made her sit down on the chair. As Alyssa closed her eyes, she had a vague idea that she was going to have a make-over.
Kyra applied many Lakme products on her face like the natural marble shade of the Lakme’s face magic daily wear soufflé, solar dust fairy dust eye shadow, iridescent blue glide-on eye color, day sheer shade of absolute cheek chromatic baked blush, and pacific sunset shade of Lakme day perfect lip color.
When Ally opened her eyes, she couldn’t believe herself. She couldn’t believe her own reflection. How was it possible? Was the girl really her? It was wrong to praise yourself on your own, but even Ally had to admit that she looked gorgeous. She immediately hugged Kyra.
Breaking the hug, Kyra asked, “So, like what you see?”
Alyssa grinned and said, “I love it. But you know there is sun’s scorching heat outside. I can’t go sleeveless.”
Kyra laughed and said, “Babes, I have a LAKME solution for everything.”
Kyra took out Lakme sun expert fairness and UV lotion and handed it to Alyssa. She asked her to apply in on her hands properly. Then they chatted for a while. After half an hour or so, Alyssa went on for her date.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

When Aaron saw Alyssa, he couldn’t believe his eyes. His tom-boyish date had magically disappeared and in place of her, there was this stunning beauty moving towards him. Aaron noticed that she was having a flawless skin which was enhanced by the makeup.

The gold dust on her eyelids enhanced her eyes and caught his attention to her. The blue eyeliner brought out her blue eyes. Her lipstick shade made her lips to look pouty. He thought that she looked absolutely ravishing.

Apparently, every other male thought this too. Groaning a little, Aaron made his way towards his date that was capturing every male attention in the room.

When Aaron reached her, he simply smiled and said, “Whoa. You look amazing!”

Alyssa blushed and muttered thanks.

They had lunch together. They talked and enjoyed a lot. They didn’t even realize how the lunch turned into dinner. They felt at peace. Alyssa loved the way Aaron was looking at her. She had grabbed his sole attention. What else could she want from the say?

They both dreaded the time when it was time for her to go away. But that time came too. They silently sat in the car as he drove. Well, this date was a date to remember. Amazing lunch, candle-light dinner, loads of chatting… what else could anyone else want?

When Alyssa’s house came, he turned off his car to see her off to her door. They both held hands and walked together to the door. They had an amazing date tonight. They wanted to make it last.

When she reached her door, Alyssa said, “So…”

Aaron smiled wickedly and said, “I guess, this is it. But, you honestly look stunning tonight.”

And then he leaned closer towards her. This was it. This was the moment she had been waiting for. All the perfect dates in every movie, ended with an ever-lasting kiss. He felt the adrenaline rush through his veins.

As his lips touched her soft ones, he couldn’t resist lingering longer than usual. Her lips tasted of strawberries. He softly kissed her until her insides melted and she kissed him back with equal passion. The kiss had everything that they could want.

Having a silly grin on his face, he said, “This was the best date in my entire life. Well, see you tomorrow.”

He went away in his car, after making sure of another date and kissing her for the second time…or third. As he drove away, she realized that today she had played the part of a Cinderella. Kyra was her fairy god-mother who had magically transformed her into a princess. And hence, she got her ‘true-love’ kiss.

The last thought of the day that occupied her mind as she slid in her blankets, was the fact that how this day had turned out to be so magical.

She softly said, “I guess, this is why the cosmetics are named as Lakme. It’s totally worth it. Lakme, as in, Love And Kiss Me Everyday.”
